Interview
L has his visa interview in less than 13 hours. I am so nervous I think that I am going to die.. I have faith that it will go well, but it destroys me to think that it might not. I guess only time will tell. I love him very much, and life without him is a horrible thing to contemplate. Time ticks on.

Biking Adventure in the ATL
K and I rented bikes on Saturday, and went for a lovely 15 mile bike ride to enjoy the weather. We were all painted from our celebration of Holi, so I'm sure we made quite a scene. The destination of our ride was to the pet store to buy my fish, Dorian, a plant and some food.
The ride itself was awesome, and greatly entertaining. The first excitement was my almost running over a squirrel. It dashed out in front of me, and I almost hit it. I think it was equally traumatic for both of us. The ride was bumpy, but we got there eventually. I kept overhearing people saying "look at those girls, they sure got paint balled." Small children stared the most. It kept occurring to me how different our ride, and our reception, would have been if we had been in India. In Atlanta, we were weirdos, in Indian we would have been the norm. Oh perception, how fickle you are.
Anyway, the picture is of people celebrating Holi (not us, obviously). It's a hindu celebration where people throw brightly colored powder on one another.
The story according to http://www.thecolorsofindia.com/ of how holi originated (or at least my FAVORITE version), goes like this:
Love Play of Radha & Krishna
Lord Krishna has often been portrayed as a naughty prankster in his childhood and a lover-boy in his youth. His beloved Radha and the cowherd girls 'Gopis' in general loved him even more for his pranks and eve teasing. The Holi of Braj is famous all over India for its intimate connection with the divine deities and their love plays. It is said that when Krishna was a young boy, he asked the reason for his dark color while Radha was so fair. His mother Yashoda playfully suggested that he should smear color on Radha's face too and change her complexion to any color he wanted. Captivated by the idea, Krishna proceeded to do so and thus, introduced the play of colors on Holi.
Even today, Holi is one of the most important festival of Braj, where the men of Nandgaon and women of Barsana play 'latthmar Holi' in the remembrance of the playful throw of colors by Krishna on 'Gopis' and their resistance. The trace of eroticism and romance pervades Holi as depicted in the love plays of Krishna and Radha. In Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul and Barsana, Holi is a two-week long festival featuring play of colors, folk songs called 'Hori', folk dances such as Raas-Lila, staging the various aspects of Radha and Krishna's love.
This picture is of my back, still stained from Holi. I am reasonably certain the the dye stayed fast because of the ammonia and urea in my sweat, which caused the dye to fix. It makes me laugh anyway.

I go omegle sometimes, and I've taking to rapping to random strangers. This transpired.
You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You: do you want to hear a rhyme?
Stranger: sure dio

You: if you give me some words i'll make it great
You: aint no way you're gonna hate
Stranger: wow your good at this mate.
You: i can tell you a story or sing you a song
You: it can be short, but it will probably be long
You: thanks for the thanks internet friend
Stranger: haha songs are good, so are stories, but rhymes are legit
You: i hope our conversation isn't soon to end
You: what kind of rhyme would you like to hear?
You: i don't want to hurt your ear
You: with something that makes you sad and bored
Stranger: try to use the word UBER in something. haha.
You: i want to give you a fantastic reward
Stranger: my friends say that word all the time
You: i think that the word uber is uber cool
You: i, too, used to use it when i was in school
You: uber cool sandwhiches and sweaters and dudes
Stranger: well thats no fun, your supposed to rhyme something with uber
You: uber cools things put me in uber good moods
You: i can rhyme with your favorite word uber
You: i can eat candy and even a goober
You: what is a goober you might be quick to ask
Stranger: haha like a goofy goober?
You: discover it for yourself, that's your task n
You: because i used the word but in my mind the definition isn't clear
You: i haven't used it in over a year
You: it's hard to find words that rhyme with uber
You: except weird ones like goober and luber
You: i can only imagine a luber is someone who lubes
Stranger: haha i have an idea,
You: or someone who likes to get all up in pubes
You: but this rhyme is getting out of control
You: although i think it's safe to say i'm on a roll
You: i wonder if our ideas were at all the same
You: or if we are in a different mind frame
You: i'm sorry if i have offended you
Stranger: we should make a story, but only rhyming, and try to put a song in it somewhere.
Stranger: sound like a good idea?
You: trust me, my apology is true
You: sure of course
You: i'd love to collaberate with you!
Stranger: oh is that true?
You: so much more true than you even know
Stranger: i wonder if that will ever show
You: i'll show you in a hundred ways or more
Stranger: just please, not by slamming the door
You: oh no, going to your door would make me a creep
Stranger: of course, cause then you would be in too deep
You: you shouldn't stalk the strangers you meet here online
Stranger: why not for we may combine....
Stranger: our frame of mind.
You: friend if you want i can rhyme twice in a row so you can give me words with which to rhyme
You: so that we have a more fun and fair time
Stranger: well why not look in the dictionary, to find a word like pictionary, whith wich some good may come...
You: communication is difficult in poems at times
You: or we could losen up our rhyming abilities by drinking some rum
Stranger: oh i fear that would be no fun
You: no, because one of us might make a mistake and pull out a gun
Stranger: that would for sure send me on the run....maybe to the sun.
You: johnny depp is the only one i trust drunk with a fire arm
You: and even he might do us some harm
Stranger: well that would be sad, and cause an end to our game.
You: yes, because rhyming with bullet holes in our faces just isn't the same
Stranger: well gee that rhyme was lame
You: i'm sorry friend it's the only thought that came!
Stranger: well im sorry my friend for it is night, and i must go.
You: alright, dear, you were a good person to know!
Stranger: thanks for putting on shuch a wonderful show
You: thanks for participating in a duo
Stranger: haha goodnight fine stranger, have a wondeful evening.

Adventuring
So, today I went to get water for my new fish. He needs spring water, so that's what i got him. On the way home from the store I made friends with a dog named Zoe, talked to some mocking birds, and watched a squirrel bury a nut in a gutter on a house.
It was a successful day.

Run, run, run.
Atlanta was in a fine state this afternoon.
actual dialogue that i heard/witnessed:
man (elderly in a green argyle sweater outside of a gas station yelling at an obese younger woman): I'm going to call the police on yo' ass
woman: I'll do it for you! *walks out into street and yells, raising one tubby forearm high above her head* POLICE POLICE!
There was no response from Atlanta's finest. This might have been, of course, due to the fact that Atlanta's finest was nowhere near our protagonist.
Shortly thereafter I saw a man pick up a cigarette butt and put it in his mouth. I don't know if he dropped it or found it, but he appeared to have just found it. He didn't really look homeless, but he was carrying a trash bag. Maybe he was simply picking up trash and a firm believer in the waste-not-want-not principle. God speed, little man!

Hello!
Hello Blogosphere,
I am back, after a week of sickness and stress. I really only have time to write right now because I skipped both of my morning classes. I rarely ever skip anything, but I needed it today. I ran about 7 miles yesterday, and I hope to run today, but I am not sure when that's going to happen. I would prefer to run outside. We'll see I guess. My IT band feels a lot better, so maybe the week off wasn't soo bad. I should have started to run again sooner, but oh well. I ran interval training yesterday, a mile hard, 5 minutes easy, a mile hard etc. Then I did the elliptical. Yay life. Last friday, I saw a man walking down the street in the sunshine juggling. It was probably the highlight of my day. And I wonder why people think I am a stoner?
xoxo

STATE RADIO!
College Life: So, A, K, and I went to see State Radio tonight at Variety Playhouse. I was going to run, but I think moshing was good enough exercise. STATE RADIO WAS AWESOME. They played Camilo and it was wonderful. We were SO close to the front. I really enjoy music. That, below, is my new shirt. I love the Medusa theme. It's fab. Our trek to little five was slightly... tense. I gave a homeless man a dollar, which of course caused my friends to chide me, but under no conditions would I want to be a beggar, whether or not it was because of an alcohol addiction. That's not why it was tense though... It was tense because MARTA always smells like the smelly kid from second grade, and the MARTA ticket machine stole my money. I schooled A at pool when we got home. 3-0.
I need to do laundry. I think it's going to eat me soon if I don't.
I also need to sleep, because I am having breakfast at 9:30 tomorrow with I. I think I am going to wear this shirt forever. It's so comfortable.

Avoidance of Dumbness
OK, so as to make sure this doesn't become an online diary, I am going to write out a quick list of what this blog will be about...
1.) Running. I will post schedules, experiences, and trials associated with running so that people may gain inspiration or whatever from them. Plus, you see a lot when you go running in urban Atlanta.
2.) Biology. I am a biology major. Because of this, my knowledge of the arcane grows larger every day. I will post interesting things I learn online and in class, as well as the many comics I draw online in this diary.
3.) Long Distance Relationships. My boyfriend/fiance/whatever and I have been together for three years. 2.5 of those years have been apart. Needless to say, I have this whole long distance thing down to an art form. However, this will be on a much more need to know basis. I will, however, discuss the visa getting process more liberally as it does have the ability to impart knowledge.
4.) Spanish. I love Spanish. I speak Spanish. My entire family of inlaws ONLY speaks Spanish.
5.) Creative Writing. I love to write, maybe if I feel so inclined you will READ what I write. Maybe not.
6.) College Life. Because who doesn't want to relive the best years of their lives? :P
So. Recap.
1.)Running
2.) Biology/Humor
3.) Relationships/Visa/Consular
4.) Spanish
5.) Creative Writing

Late
No running today, it was cold and I was tired, and I don't want to overdo it. I skipped neuroscience to study for psych and was glad that I did. I ate like 600 cupcakes. today was a good day. Now it's late late. I was in the student center with two of my main squeezes, A and L. I have the cutest friends ever. I drew some cartoons while they studied for chemistry, and I might eventually post some up here. I really enjoying cartooning, even though the humor is so nerdy and obscure, it makes XKCD seem readily accessible. Not the mark of GREAT humor, I suppose, but hey, it makes me laugh. There is a bench in the student center that is supposed to look like one of those camel saddles, except it would have to be for a miniature camel, because it's only like a foot high. I like the idea of people riding around on miniature camels, all over the desert. Miniature Bedouin women on tiny camels. Do Bedouin let their women ride camels? I think I read somewhere that they don't, but then again, I think it was actually that they don't let them ride horses. That makes more sense. Who knows. It's late. I am talking about miniature camels. I am going to bed.
Peace and God Bless.
Peace and God Bless.

hmm
So, today, when I went to do my first 5 miles, the only other people in the gym were the anorexic girl and the bulimic girl. It was a little disconcerting. In all honesty, it was too much for me, and I ran outside, even though the snot was freezing on my sleeves. Awesome.
Good Morning World.
Got up early with the roommate and went and ate breakfast. It's my favorite meal of the day, because it's healthy and yet delicious and no one judges you for eating a lot of fruit. I had a banana, some melon, and some oatmeal. Those things shall be tagged under "things you could care less about." I have my animal behavior class next, I wonder what prof will imitate today? Thus far, I think his imitation of a pissed off, territorial bull shark takes the cake. Speaking of sharks...

Rotten shark. My friend had it, but she ate it suspended in vodka. She said it was probably the most disgusting thing she had ever had. Surprised? Not me.

First!
Hello, a little about me I guess. I am a college student somewhere in the south. I am engaged to a man I love, and I like animals. I am starting this blog to chronicle my life as an athlete and a student. Most of the personal stuff will be left out. Perhaps you are, however, curious as to why my name is Arvicolinae Lemmini. That is, for those who are unaware, the latin name for our little friend the lemming. This poor little guy and I have a considerable amount in common. We both take off running, and sometimes we misjudge our obstacles and end up drowing in a frigid lake in Norway. I ran 5.5 miles today, which is a short day for me. That made it up to mile 35.5 for this week. My goal is 60, so hopefully I get there! 15 miles tomorrow providing that bio lab doesn't go over. I really enjoy classes and labs, but I enjoy running more, and I can sit in the science center in the dark. Running in Urbania at night is a good way to get murdered. And being murdered hasn't been cool since the 90's. I am currently enjoying, or rather currently am contented AFTER enjoying a nice mug of peppermint tea.
That is all for now.
That is all for now.
